Sir Charles Dilke, 2nd Baronet MP - A far advanced Radical by Coide 1871 - This print was drawn by the French artist James Tissot (Coide and JTJ). Vanity Fair was subtitled A Weekly Show of Political, Social and Literary Wares and was founded by Thomas Gibson Bowles (who signed his images Jehu Junior) in 1868, who aimed to expose the contemporary vanities of Victorian society. The chromolithographs were produced by an international group of artists including Max Beerbohm (Max and Bulbo), Sir Leslie Ward (Spy and Drawl) and Carlo Pellegrini (Singe and Ape).
