Colonel Francis Duncan RA, MP - Finsbury by Ape 1887 - This print was drawn by the Italian artist Carlo Pellegrini (Ape). Vanity Fair was subtitled A Weekly Show of Political, Social and Literary Wares and was founded by Thomas Gibson Bowles (who signed his images Jehu Junior) in 1868, who aimed to expose the contemporary vanities of Victorian society. The chromolithographs were produced by an international group of artists including Max Beerbohm (Max and Bulbo), Sir Leslie Ward (Spy and Drawl) and Carlo Pellegrini (Singe and Ape).
