In 1936, he graduated from the Kalinin Moscow Higher Art and Industrial School, and in 1947, he graduated from the Repin Institute of Fine Arts in Leningrad. (His thesis was ”Sholom Aleichem, ” supervised by A. T. Matveyev). During the war, he was evacuated to Tbilisi, where he worked as a wood modeler and artist. From 1952 to 1954, he participated in the restoration of the sculptures of the palaces-museums in Pavlovsk and Pushkin. In 1955, he created a bas-relief portrait of Mikhail Lomonosov for the Technological Institute metro station. The portrait of E. A. Hendelman was executed by M. M. Kharlamova (plaster, 1956). From 1955 to 1967, he worked at the Leningrad Factory of Sculpture to create small-scale sculptures. His figures were painted by E. N. Lupanova and K. G. Kosenkova. He executed his works in various materials: cast iron – “Girl at the Haymaking”, 1938 – 1939; “Summer”, 1962; bronze – “In the Vastness of My Motherland”, 1969; “V. P.
