English Grain-Painted Pine Chest of Drawers circa 1850 - An English mid-nineteenth-century grain-painted pine chest of drawers, retaining its original wooden knobs and richly worn painted surface. The case is fitted with two short drawers over three graduated long drawers, each with hand-cut dovetails and bold turned wood pulls softened from long use. The drawer fronts retain a spotted ochre painted finish within applied moldings, while the case is painted in a loose simulation of mahogany, with flame-like graining across the boards.
