English Georgian Style Mahogany Trou-Madame Game Table - English Georgian Style Mahogany Snooker-Style ”Trou-Madame” Parlor Game Table Mahogany tabletop snooker-style game table called a ”Trou-Madame”, a parlor game resembling early billiards but designed for women during the late 18th century. Were it not for the designs drawn by Gillows of Lancaster, all information regarding the table may have been lost from the history books. Gillow's archives in Westminster Public Libraries inventory and sketch tables as they were ordered from the furniture making firm from 1772 through 1822. Raised on a separate stand, the rectangular case opening to reveal a green baize-lined playing surface with side scoring tracks, numbered scoring decorative bridge, 9 balls, and cues. The case fitted with brass hooks and hardware, raised on a simple four-leg stand. Closed: 28 3/4 in. H x 31 1/8 in. W x 16 1/4 in. D. Open: 27 1/4 in. H x 60 in. W x 15 1/8 in. D at top.
