George III Mahogany Metamorphic Library Steps - George III Mahogany Metamorphic Library Steps England, 19th century. A very fine set of George III mahogany metamorphic library steps, designed as a rectangular upholstered stool when closed and opening on hinged supports to form a set of library steps. The case is raised on square tapered legs and fitted with brass carrying handles. The hinged upper section is upholstered in dark blue leather with brass nailhead trim, the interior opening to reveal four tread surfaces (three steps plus the top of the stand) similarly finished.
