French Charles X Burlwood Marble Drum-Form Side Table, 19th century - A French Charles X period drum-form side table with a black marble top enclosed by a pierced brass gallery. The marble has active white veining throughout, providing a strong contrast to the warm burlwood case and aged brass mounts. The frieze is fitted with a single hand-dovetailed drawer and two opposing pull-out drink slides, each inset with early gilt-tooled green leather. The drum top is raised on a swollen baluster support with brass rings at the upper and lower collar, over a tripartite base ending in elongated spheroid feet. Well-proportioned at just over 25 inches high, the table is suitable for use beside seating furniture. 25 3/8 in. H x 25 5/8 in. diameter
