French Restauration Bronze Mantel Clock, ”Horatius and the Fall of Rome” - Restauration gilt and patinated bronze mantel clock with figure of Horatius France, early 19th century Restauration period mantel clock in gilt and patinated bronze, surmounted by a seated classical figure identified as Horatius, holding a scroll and gesturing above military and architectural ruins. The clock case is modeled with a fallen horse’s head, broken column, architectural fragments, and helmet. Rectangular base mounted with an ormolu trophy motif of crossed trumpets within a laurel wreath.
