WWI Poster "The First Three!" - American Red Cross Week Fund
World War One poster titled "The First Three" Created by Benjamin Kidder in 1918, this poster features the first three Americans killed in WW1. James B. Gresham, Thomas F. Enright and Private Merle D. Hay were killed by German soldiers in the early morning hours of November 3, 1917 near Artois, France. They were members of the 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division. The poster was created in a few variations with this one being for the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and vicinity 31 and 1 War Chest. The "First Three" poster helped the Red Cross raise one million dollars in the week that it was introduced. This poster has not been removed from the vintage frame and appears to be dry mounted to the pressed board backing. Measures 20.25" x 27". Some wear and staining but still retains vibrant colors.
