Vintage Civil War Shiloh National Battlefield Souvenir Box U.D.C. Confederate Monument - Vintage circa 1920s souvenir box with a hand painted rendering of the Confederate monument erected by the United Daughters of the Confederacy in 1917. It measures 9” x 5.5” x 2.5” and is constructed of strong board with three interior compartments and retains a snap closure. The box lid and back spine are covered in animal hide. Imprinted below the painting is U.D.C. Monument Shiloh Natl. Mil. Park Pittsburg Landing, Tenn. The right of the box lid bears two words that are faintly imprinted but illegible. The painting reveals the monument in raised relief to the defeated southern armies in vivid white representing the marble. The bronze figures in the center and on each side are depicted by a muted orange, giving a ghostly appearance. The central figures in the actual monument represent ”Defeated Victory” who is handing a laurel wreath of Victory to Death on the right and Night on the left. On the far left and right are figures of soldiers. The box is intact with no damage. In-house shipping available.
