Marx ”Roadside Rest Service Station” Tin Lithographed Toy Playset, circa 1930s - A Marx ”Roadside Rest Service Station” tin lithographed toy playset, circa 1930s. This vintage playset depicts a roadside service station and diner. The central building features a brightly colored tiled roof and a sign reading ”ROADSIDE REST SERVICE STATION” above a prominent ”MAR” logo (M within a circle with AR) and ”AMERICAN MADE.” Inside, two stylized figures are depicted behind a counter with individual place settings and a cash register. The set includes additional freestanding components on a green base, such as two red gas pumps (one marked ”FREE AIR”), a blue ”MOTOR OIL” cart, a red auto lift, two black and gold ”MOTOR” branded pump towers, an orange refuse bin, and a red oil drum marked ”CAPACITY 200 GALLONS.” Length of base approximately 13.5 inches..
