A Group of Early 20th-Century American Halloween Postcards - A Group of early 20th-century American Halloween-themed postcards, all made of printed cardstock with color illustrations and housed in clear plastic protective sleeves. One postcard, addressed to Miss Beatrice Hunt of Ravenna, Ohio, from Evelyn Green, is postmarked ”NOV 4” (likely early 1900s) from Worcester, Mass., bears a 2-cent George Washington stamp, and contains a legible handwritten message in English describing daily life and wishing a ”happy Halloween”. Another postcard, depicting two children carrying a pumpkin, is dated ”COPYRIGHTED... 1908” and its reverse is postmarked ”WARREN N. PA. OCT 30 AM 708” with a 1-cent Benjamin Franklin stamp, addressed to Master Wm Sandberg. The remaining three postcards feature characteristic early 1900s Halloween imagery: one illustrating a boy with pumpkin figures (”BEST HALLOWEEN WISHES”), another showing a girl gazing at a jack-o'-lantern (”THE HIGHEST EXPECTATIONS FOR HALLOWEEN” by International Art Publ. Co., New York/Berlin, printed in Germany), and a third with an owl and black cat beneath a full moon (”A HAPPY HALLOWEEN”).. Burns in-house shipping is available.
