A Group of Early 20th Century Halloween Postcards, including Ellen H. Clapsaddle - A Group of antique Halloween postcards, dating from the early 20th century (circa 1908-1915), characteristic of the Golden Age of postcards. One card, signed Ellen H. Clapsaddle, depicts a young girl looking into a mirror for a ”Halloween Greeting.” Another features a black cat on a broomstick with the sentiment ”Halloween Don'ts,” copyrighted by N.S. Jackson. A third card illustrates children bobbing for apples, titled ”The Joys of Halloween” and copyrighted 1908 L.E.C. The fourth card, signed HBC and part of the Hallowe'en Series 7010, shows two children with a mirror and masks, accompanied by the sentiment ”May the face in your Halloween mirror Remind You of Me!” Each card is made of printed paper; one features embossed details, and another is noted as ”Printed in Germany.” The reverses of the cards bear ”POST CARD” headings, 1-cent U.S. postage stamps, and postmarks from cities such as Philadelphia and Nyack, indicating their mailing dates..
