Bidspirit auction | After Frederic Remington, 'The Mountain

After Frederic Remington, 'The Mountain Man' Bronze Sculpture - A bronze statuette, after Frederic Remington (American, 1861-1909), depicting 'The Mountain Man'. The dynamic composition features a male figure, likely a frontiersman or cowboy, astride a horse that appears to be descending a steep, rocky incline. The figure is dressed in period attire, including a fur-lined hat, and carries a rifle strapped to his saddle. A coiled, twisted wire lariat is held in his left hand. The sculpture exhibits characteristics of American Western art, with a dark, aged patina on the metallic surface. The signature ”Frederic Remington” is visibly etched into the rocky element of the bronze sculpture. It is mounted on a circular, grey-veined marble base with a green felt lining on its underside.
