J. & E. Stevens & Co. 'Eagle and Eaglets' Mechanical Cast Iron Bank, Patented 1883 - A J. & E. Stevens & Co. 'Eagle and Eaglets' mechanical cast iron bank, patented January 28, 1883. The bank depicts an eagle with outstretched wings perched on a rocky base, positioned above a nest containing smaller chicks. A small, stylized animal figure is visible emerging from the base. The object retains remnants of its original polychrome paint, showcasing faded tones of grey, white, black, green, yellow, brown, and orange. The heavily perforated underside is stamped ”PAT JAN 28 1883,” alongside a circular lock mechanism with partially legible text. Length: 9 inches Height: 6 inches.
