A Panay Horizontal Show Candy Counter Jar, Early 20th Century - An early 20th-century Panay Horizontal Show Jar, manufactured by Panay Horizontal Show Jar Co. of Milwaukee, Wis., U.S.A. This horizontal display jar features an elongated, clear glass body with a domed closed end, affixed to a textured cast metal (likely aluminum or a similar alloy) end cap. The metal cap is embossed with ”Panay HORIZONTAL Show Jar,” ”MANUFACTURED ONLY BY PANAY HORIZONTAL SHOW JAR CO. MILWAUKEE, WIS. U.S.A.,” and ”PATENTED IN THE UNITED STATES AND FOREIGN COUNTRIES.” A hinged access door, secured by a simple latch and spring mechanism, opens to reveal the jar's interior, which is sealed by a black rubber gasket.
