Bidspirit auction | A Collection of Antique Victorian

A Collection of Antique Victorian and Art Nouveau Ornamental Buttons, Mounted on Card - A group of antique ornamental buttons, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, exhibiting both Victorian and Art Nouveau stylistic influences. The buttons are crafted from a diverse array of materials including various metals (such as brass, bronze, copper-toned, and silver-toned), enamel, mother-of-pearl, and dark materials resembling hard rubber or early plastic. Designs are varied, featuring classical busts, mythological figures, profiled portraits (some in Art Nouveau style), full-body costumed figures (including in a kimono), and heraldic or patterned motifs. A prominent large button displays a monarch in relief with the clear inscription 'QUEEN ELIZABETH' around its perimeter. Another button bears faint, illegible text, possibly including numbers. The buttons are mounted on a cream-colored card with hand-drawn circles indicating their intended placement; several positions are currently empty. The verso of the card is marked with '#29' in the top left corner. Card: 9 inches (22.86 cm) H x 6 inches (15.24 cm) W Burns in-house shipping is available.
