A Collection of Antique and Vintage Figural Picture Buttons, Victorian to Art Nouveau - A group of antique and vintage picture buttons, primarily circular with some rectangular and smaller accent pieces, mounted on a white card for display. The buttons feature a diverse range of figural motifs, including classical mythological or historical profiles such as warriors in helmets, a Bacchante-like figure, a classical bust in a diadem, and a figure with a trident. Other motifs include a medieval-style head, an Egyptian pharaoh, various ornate female portraits, and a griffin-like creature. Materials present include brass, bronze, and other patinated metals, some with gilt or silver-tone accents. Also included are buttons made from black carved or molded material (possibly jet, vulcanite, or gutta-percha), mother-of-pearl, wood veneer, and carved white material resembling bone, ivory, or celluloid used for cameo details. The overall style suggests periods from Victorian through Art Nouveau.
