A group of Diverse Antique and Vintage Buttons on Display Card, Late 19th to Mid-20th Century, attached by strings, wires, or ties. - This collection comprises group of diverse antique and vintage buttons, dating from the late 19th to mid-20th century, presented on an aged, off-white cardboard display card. The buttons are attached to the card by any strings, wires, or ties. The card is marked ”1-1/2” and ”23” at the top left and features hand-drawn blue circles around each button. The buttons vary significantly in size and design, crafted from materials including wood, mother-of-pearl, brass/gilt metal, and various plastics such as phenolic resin. Styles include pictorial and dimensional examples. Pictorial designs feature Victorian/Edwardian-style children, birds on nests, flowers, a Liberty Bell, landscapes with houses, fox hunts, and silhouettes, often presented beneath clear domes or as direct applications. Dimensional buttons include carved foliage, a molded red bird, a black star, a bone-like cylindrical piece, and a beaded metal design. The reverse of the card is covered with handwritten blue ink notations, including names such as ”M. Feith,” ”Mary Mohler,” and ”Walter Jenkins,” alongside numerical values (e.g., ”¢.50,” ”¢ 1.00”), and various threads or wires attached with safety pins, suggesting its historical use as a sample or sales reference.
