A Collection of Vintage and Antique Buttons, including Art Nouveau, Figural, and Egyptian Revival Examples, late 19th to mid-20th Century - This lot comprises a group of vintage buttons, primarily circular or oval, meticulously arranged in a diamond pattern on a light-colored card. Some individual buttons are outlined in blue ink. The assortment showcases a diverse range of styles, periods, and materials, suggesting a collection spanning from the late 19th to mid-20th century. Styles include classical and Art Nouveau figural busts (some appearing as mermaids or goddesses), Egyptian revival motifs, floral designs (some openwork or enameled), cameos (white on brown), intaglios, and painted miniature portraits. Notably, button features a black-and-white photographic portrait of a woman wearing a tiara (resembling Queen Elizabeth II) set on blue felt, and another depicts a powdered wig figure. Materials observed include brass, bronze, silver-tone metals, various enamels (turquoise, black, magenta), faceted black glass, composite materials, and carved elements possibly of shell or bone.
