A Collection of Varied Antique and Vintage Buttons on a Mounted Display Board - A group of antique or vintage buttons, varied in style, size, and material, meticulously arranged and mounted within hand-drawn circles on a cream-colored cardboard display board. The materials observed include plastic (identified by handwritten notes such as ”Celluloise” and ”Bakelit”), metal (some marked ”tôle” for sheet metal/tin plate, and ”Acier” for steel), iridescent mother-of-pearl, glass, and composite elements, often featuring embedded rhinestones or faceted details. Designs range from plain black with carved star motifs or paisley-like patterns, to highly decorative gold-toned buttons with sunbursts, crescent moons, multi-star compositions, or neoclassical profiles, as well as some with textile or woven inserts. The reverse of the board features numerous safety pins and thread remnants, indicating how the buttons were previously affixed, and bears a handwritten signature, ”Helen Saucily” (likely ”Helen Saucier”).
