The buttons exhibit a wide range of decorative styles, including ornate relief designs, intricate geometric patterns, and prominent spade-shaped button adorned with clear faceted stones. Materials vary considerably, encompassing various metals such as gold-toned, silver-toned, bronze, and brass, iridescent shell (likely mother-of-pearl), early plastics or resins (seen in a large burgundy button and a black button with a red accent strap), and textile-based button with a woven metallic design on a blue ground.
