A Collection of US Armed Forces and Military Buttons and Insignia, with Handwritten Annotations, circa 1931 - A group of military-style buttons and insignia, predominantly of US Armed Forces origin, meticulously arranged on a beige paper card within hand-drawn circular outlines. The buttons and pins vary in size and design, featuring emblems such as ”US” text, eagles clutching shields (some inscribed with ”E PLURIBUS UNUM” – Latin for ”Out of Many, One”), a US Marine Corps globe, eagle, and anchor, winged aviation insignia, crossed cannons, and stars. Materials primarily consist of brass or gilt metal, with some items exhibiting a darker, possibly bronzed or japanned, finish. Handwritten annotations on the card provide contextual information including ”aug 18 Columbus GA Fort Hayes”, ”Gordon Highlanders Established 1763”, ”M. J. '68”, ”Peace Mts”, ”Look Out MT Tenn”, and ”R. Buck”, alongside various numerical notations. Card measures approximately 9 inches in height and 7 inches in width.
