Bidspirit auction | A group of Antique Decorative

A group of Antique Decorative Metal Buttons, Late 19th/Early 20th Century - A group of round, decorative buttons, primarily crafted from various metals such as brass, bronze, and silver-toned alloys, some featuring dark patinated or oxidized finishes, with select pieces incorporating faceted glass or crystal accents and reddish enamel-like details. These buttons are mounted in a diamond pattern on a cream-colored cardboard display board, each within a hand-drawn circle. The designs exhibit a diverse range of styles, including figural representations such as a mythological charioteer with the sun, a winged cherub, group of armored figures, a stag, a fox-like animal, lions, a camel, a figure in a horned helmet, and a historical bust surrounded by text reading ”DULCIS IN ORBE ET VIRTUS IN ORBE” (Latin for ”Sweet in the world and virtue in the world”). Other buttons display intricate floral patterns and textured borders. The overall aesthetic suggests styles prevalent from the late 19th to early 20th century. The reverse of the display board features a collector's label with the name ”Eunika B. Sutre” and an address. Display board measures approximately 12 inches (30.48 cm) in height and 8.5 inches (21.59 cm) in width. Burns in-house shipping is available.
