Bidspirit auction | A Collection of Over Hundred

A Collection of Over Hundred Late 19th to Early 20th Century Vintage Garment Buttons - This collection comprises over group of vintage garment buttons, predominantly circular with some oval forms, mounted on multiple grid-patterned paper cards. The buttons date from the late 19th to early 20th century and display a wide array of intricate designs, including geometric patterns, abstract motifs, and occasional figural elements. Materials are diverse, comprising various metals such as brass, silver-tone, bronzed, and japanned finishes. Many exhibit a distinct ”luster” or iridescent quality, while some darker examples appear to be made from glass or hard rubber. Handwritten annotations on the cards include descriptive terms like ”Oval,” ”Luster,” and ”Metal,” alongside numerical markings (e.g., ”75,” ”1.00,” ”1.50,” ”2.50”). Manufacturer's text ”AFR Paris” identifies some buttons as originating from A.F. Rischgitz, a known Parisian button maker.
