A Pair of Sterling Silver Pheasant Brooches, Sheffield - A pair of sterling silver brooches, both hallmarked in Sheffield, England, and depicting pheasants or game birds. One brooch presents a single, horizontally oriented pheasant in a naturalistic style with textured feathers. The second brooch displays two standing pheasants on a textured base, also rendered with detailed, naturalistic feathering. Both pieces are marked on their reverse with visible English hallmarks, including the Lion Passant for sterling silver, a Crown for the Sheffield Assay Office, a date letter (appearing as a lowercase 'o'), and a maker's mark (possibly 'SM' or 'GM'). Single pheasant brooch length: 2.75 inches (7 cm) Double pheasant brooch height: 1.75 inches (4.5 cm) Combined weight: 16.06 grams Good overall condition, showing some tarnish consistent with their silver composition and age.
