An English Sterling Silver Open-Face Pocket Watch by G.W. Lee of Leeds, London Hallmarked 1870 - An English open-face pocket watch, featuring a London Hallmarked sterling silver case by maker G.W. Lee of Leeds, dated 1870. The back of the case is adorned with engine-turned decoration, centered by an engraved escutcheon, and is fitted with a fixed bail and suspension ring. Interior hallmarks visible on the dust cover include the lion passant (sterling silver standard), the leopard's head (London assay office), the date letter 'P' (indicating 1870). The white enamel dial presents black Roman numerals for the hours, a minute track, and a sub-seconds dial at the 6 o'clock position with Arabic numerals. The gilt brass English lever movement is visible, bearing the engraved signature ”G.W. LEE LEEDS” and the serial number ”6658” on its ornately engraved balance cock. 1.9 inches across Good antique condition. The case exhibits expected tarnish and surface wear consistent with age. Some dust is present on the movement. The blued steel hour hand appears slightly bent, and the minute hand is missing its tip. Burns in-house shipping is available.
