George III English Sterling Silver Toast Rack by John W. Story, London, 1809 - A George III English sterling silver toast rack, made in 1809 by John W. Story in London. The rack features a rectangular base with gadrooned edges, standing on four ornate shell and paw feet. It is designed with seven arched dividers, centered by a reeded oval ring handle with foliate adornment at its base. Clear hallmarks are visible on one of the dividers, including a 'JW' maker's mark, a lion passant, an anchor assay mark, and a capital letter 'C' date letter. Height: 6 1/4 inches Width: 6 3/4 inches Depth: 4 1/2 inches Weight: 410.5 grams The overall condition is good, exhibiting minor tarnish and surface wear consistent with its age.
