Bidspirit auction | A Collection of Vintage Wristwatches
A Collection of Vintage Wristwatches and Pendant Watches - A collection of approximately fourteen vintage watches, comprising twelve wristwatches (one without a strap) and two small pendant/pocket watches, along with a separate metal expansion watch bracelet. The wristwatches feature various styles, including predominantly rectangular, cushion, and round cases, crafted from both gold-toned and silver-toned metals. Some are paired with integrated metal bracelets or flexible fabric/cord straps. Visible brand names and dial markings include ”HAMPDEN,” ”Gruen Veri-Thin,” ”VANTAGE 17 JEWELS,” ”Tivoli 17 JEWE SWISS,” ”BENRUS SWISS” (one also marked ”SHOCKPROOF”), ”Girard Perregaux AUTOMATIC,” ”BULOVA,” and ”WALTHAM.” The two smaller pendant/pocket watches are gold-toned and marked ”ELGIN,” with one featuring a white dial and the other a gold-toned dial with a sub-seconds complication, accompanied by a gold-toned chain. One silver-toned rectangular wristwatch bears an engraved inscription on its back: ”PRESENTED TO [partially illegible name] BY EMMA L. HAUSER XMAS. 1922.” Additional handwritten labels on some watch backs indicate materials or details such as ”PLU 10K GF BEZEL 1/20W” (10 karat gold-filled bezel, 1/20th weight) and ”DIAMOND.” The metal expansion watch bracelet measures approximately 6.5 inches. Fair to poor condition. Widespread signs of age and wear are present across the collection, including scratches to crystals and cases, tarnishing, discoloration, and significant patina on many dials. All watches are in untested, as-is condition and functionality cannot be guaranteed. Burns in-house shipping is available.
