A group of Vintage Japanese Export Ceramic Biscuit Jars with Woven Handles - A group of vintage Japanese export ceramic biscuit barrels or cookie jars, dating to the early to mid-20th century. Each container is constructed from glazed earthenware and features a hinged ceramic lid and an attached woven handle, executed in either rattan, wicker, or coated wire. The collection displays distinct decorative styles. jars feature molded textures resembling basketweave or stippling, decorated with polychrome hand-painted floral motifs on cream or yellow grounds. The fourth jar is smooth-sided and decorated with a bold, naturalistic design of stylized leaves and berries, finished with black trim. At least of the examples bear the stamped mark ”MADE IN JAPAN” on the base, consistent with post-1921 export regulations. Burns in-house shipping is available. Pick up is Friday, Jan. 30 from Noon to 7 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
