A group of Luso Faianca Coimbra Faience Soup Tureen Set in 18th Century Style - A blue and white hand-painted faience soup tureen set attributed to Luso Faianca, Coimbra, Portugal. The set comprises a polygonal pedestal-footed tureen with small handles, a conforming lid with a loop handle/finial, a wide octagonal underplate/tray, and a fitted ladle. The decoration is executed in deep cobalt blue underglaze, featuring central reserves on the tureen and underplate depicting large birds (resembling quail or pheasants) perched on foliage against a landscape background. The reserves are bordered by intricate foliate scrollwork and geometric bands. The lid features a cutout notch to accommodate the ladle. The base of the tureen is inscribed in blue script: 510/1 LUSO FAIANCA SEC: XVIII HAND PAINTED COIMBRA PORTUGAL and a cursive signature. The base of the underplate bears a similar inscription: 520/1 LUSO FAIANCA SEC: XVIII HAND PAINTED COIMBRA PORTUGAL and a cursive signature. The style is noted as SEC: XVIII (18th Century).
