Post-1980s Tobacco and Advertising Signs including Camel Exotic Blends - A group of pieces of mixed-material advertising and point-of-sale signage, primarily featuring tobacco brands produced by R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. and others. The lot includes metal or tin signs: a large rectangular sign promoting Salem cigarettes featuring a mountain background and figures; a tapered metal sign advertising Virginia Slims and listing special prices for cigarette brands (Camel, Kool, Winston, Salem, Doral, Pall Mall); and a small circular Mobilgas/Socony-Vacuum sign featuring the red Pegasus logo. The Mobilgas sign is marked with a 1997 copyright date, confirming it is a modern reissue. The collection also features a large cardboard box topper for Camel ”Exotic Blends, ” consistent with market examples identified as R.J. Reynolds advertising. Still attached to their backing sheet within the box topper packaging is a set of smaller, rectangular Camel blend name signs (Izmir Stinger, Twist, Dark Mint, Mandarin Mint, Crema, Exotic Blends). The final items are large cardstock display flats promoting Pall Mall, Winston, and Doral. All tobacco signage features modern Surgeon General's Warnings, dating the items to the post-1980s era.
