A Collection of Vintage and Antique Spectacles and Cases - A collection of late 19th and early 20th-century eyewear and protective cases. The group includes a pair of pince-nez with round dark-rimmed lenses and a gold-toned metal spring-tension bridge. Also included are several pairs of wire-rim spectacles: one with oval lenses and gold-toned frames, one with rounded rectangular lenses and gold-toned frames, and one with large round lenses and silver-toned flexible cable temples. A final pair consists of small octagonal gold-toned metal frames currently lacking lenses. The collection is accompanied by two cases. One is a black textured hard clamshell case featuring the gold-stamped mark D. R. GRIFFITH / Optometrist / MARYSVILLE, OHIO. The second is a decorative slip case with a black exterior featuring gold-toned scrollwork and filigree patterns, attributed to 19th-century papier-mache lacquer work, with a soft interior lining.
