The group is predominantly crafted from mother-of-pearl and various shell types, exhibiting a range of iridescent lusters. Notable examples include a large leaf-shaped button with dark veining, several circular buttons with intricate floral and geometric carvings, and others accented with metal-toned rims or rhinestone borders.
