Vintage Franklyn's Superfine Shagg Tobacco Advertising Sign - This mid-twentieth century point-of-sale advertising sign was produced for Franklyn and Company of Bristol for the British tobacco market. The sign is constructed of a printed graphic on heavy board and is mounted to a wooden subframe. The graphic composition features a red rectangular block with the text Franklyn's Superfine in yellow with black drop-shadowing, positioned next to a yellow diagonal banner reading Fully Flavoured. The central illustration depicts a cylindrical tobacco package with an ornate red and white graphic featuring a stylized portrait. Text on the package includes Franklyn and Company, Superfine Shagg, On The Back, and Bristol. Fine print along the bottom edge identifies the issuer as The Imperial Tobacco Company (of Great Britain and Ireland), Limited. The reverse of the sign features a rustic wooden frame with an attached wire hanger. Width: 33 inches.
