John Harper and Co. Jolly N***** Mechanical Bank - This mechanical coin bank is produced by John Harper and Co. Ltd. of Willenhall, England, and is identified as the Jolly N***** Bank model. The item is constructed of painted cast iron and depicts a bust of a figure wearing a red jacket with a single blue button, a blue bow tie, and a white top hat with a black band. The back of the jacket features embossed lettering reading JOLLY followed by a diamond symbol and the words N***** BANK. The underside of the base plate is embossed with JOHN HARPER and Co ENGLAND. The bank utilizes a lever-activated mechanism located on the rear left shoulder. When the lever is depressed, the right arm moves toward the open mouth while the eyes roll upward. The coin is intended to be placed in the hand and swallowed as the arm rises. Height: Approximately 6.5 inches.
