A Collection of Vintage Black Souvenir and Character Dolls - This collection consists of 14 vintage souvenir and character dolls representing various regions and eras. The assortment includes a hard plastic character baby doll manufactured by the Knickerbocker Plastic Company of Glendale, California, featuring incised maker marks on the back and a fabric loincloth printed with MOLO. Regional souvenir dolls include a tall cloth figure with a straw fruit basket headpiece and an apron marked JAMAICA, a cloth doll with a metal bell base and an apron embroidered New Orleans, La., and a doll wearing a palm-print dress marked MARTINIQUE. Also included is a small doll in a floral print dress with a tag marked BELL and Natchez. The collection features a variety of construction materials including composition, hard plastic, vinyl, and cloth. Features include molded hair, yarn pigtails, synthetic wigs, and painted facial features. One vinyl doll in a blue gingham dress is equipped with functioning sleep eyes. The dolls are dressed in outfits consistent with their regional or character themes, including denim-style overalls, tropical prints, and gingham patterns.
