A Pair of McCoy Black Americana Mammy Figural Cookie Jars - This pair of two-piece figural cookie jars is attributed to McCoy Pottery. Each jar depicts a woman in a long, pleated skirt, a form commonly associated with the Black Americana Mammy or Aunt Jemima motif. The upper torso and head function as the lid, while the lower body and skirt form the base. The word Cookies is embossed in stylized script on the lower front of each skirt. The jars are constructed of earthenware with a cream-colored glaze. Decoration consists of a molded form with cold-painted over-glaze accents in black, red, and green applied to the faces, hands, collars, and headscarves. No factory marks are visible on the bases. Height: 10.5 inches. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
