Uncle Remus Brand Syrup Tin, Robinson Syrup Co. Inc., c. 1924 - An antique 2 lb. 4 oz. syrup tin for Uncle Remus Brand, produced by the Robinson Syrup Co. Inc. of Cairo, Georgia. The container is constructed of tin-plated steel with a wrap-around lithographed paper label. The front of the label features the Uncle Remus character holding a miniature version of the product, accompanied by the phrase Dis sho am good in stylized script. One side panel identifies the packer and the lithographer, H. Gamse and Brother of Baltimore, Maryland. The opposite side panel includes a 1924 copyright date. The reverse side displays a decorative cartouche with the watchword Quality Counts and text describing the blend of corn and pure Georgia cane syrup. The friction-fit lid is embossed with a central stylized letter R inside a circle, surrounded by radiating names of various food categories including tomatoes, strawberries, raspberries, beets, blackberries, grapes, cherries, plums, quinces, and peaches, suggesting a multi-purpose lid design used by the manufacturer.
