Three Collectible Items Relating to Black American History Including F.X. Schmid Puzzle and Black History Playing Cards - This lot features three items relating to Black American history and historical advertising representations. The first item is a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle manufactured by F.X. Schmid and published by Stivers Publishing. The puzzle is titled Proud to Serve and features artwork by Don Stivers dated 1991, depicting a Buffalo Soldier of the U.S. Cavalry. The second item is A Black History Playing Card Deck, copyrighted by AG Mueller in 1977. This commemorative deck includes 52 portraits of distinguished Black Americans by artist Langley Newman, categorized into Human Rights, Adventure, Science and Industry, and The Arts, with accompanying biographies by Deloris L. Holt. The third item is a vintage confectionary box for Whitman's Pickaninny Peppermints Chocolate Covered, manufactured by Stephen F. Whitman and Son, Inc. of Philadelphia. The two-piece slide-out cardboard box features historical caricatures of Black children and includes printed text for various regional offices in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco.
