A Collection of Vintage Black Americana Postcards and Ephemera Including Curt Teich Comic Cards and LaVern Baker Promotional Card - A collection of early to mid-20th-century American ephemera, primarily focused on Black Americana subjects. The group includes a variety of printing formats such as linen-texture postcards, glossy lithographs, and real photo postcards. Several comic postcards are produced by Curt Teich and Company, Inc., bearing production codes 2CH410, 2C-H281, SC-H2, and 4A-H1243. Other identified publishers include Hallmark and N. Brook. Subject matter includes racial caricatures and stereotypes typical of the Jim Crow era, with captions such as Southern Blackout, Sure we are cuckoo - but happy, and I will be barreling it home soon. The collection also features a monochrome promotional card for singer LaVern Baker (Rock and Roll 4) with biographical details, a novelty Southern Products card (ND-99) with three-dimensional cotton bolls attached to a photographic image of an infant, and an orange folding birthday card. One real photo postcard titled An Indian Procession is included, showing a large crowd and decorated structure. Standard postcards measure approximately 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
