A Collection of Vintage and Modern Magazines and Ephemera Featuring African American History and Culture - This collection includes items consisting of vintage and modern magazines and ephemera focused on African American history and culture from 1961 to 2015. The lot features seven issues of Ebony magazine including February 1961 with Ruby Dee and Ossie Davis, May 1961, November 1961, April 1966 with Sammy Davis Jr., December 1966 with Leontyne Price, May 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. commemorative issue, and May 1980 with Lena Horne. There are five issues of Life magazine including June 28, 1963 covering the Medgar Evers funeral, March 26, 1965 featuring Dr. King in Selma, May 21, 1965, October 17, 1969 with Naomi Sims, and a 2014 Nelson Mandela commemorative issue. The group also contains three issues of American Legacy from 2002 and 2003, a March 23, 1965 issue of Look magazine titled The Negro Now, a 2009 Rolling Stone Michael Jackson commemorative issue, and a November 2015 issue of America's Civil War. Additionally, the lot includes a Library of Congress facsimile booklet of the Gettysburg Address. All items are original staple-bound periodicals or softcover publications. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
