A Collection of Little Black Sambo Books and SIFO Wooden Puzzle - This collection consists of various mid-20th-century editions of the children's story Little Black Sambo by Helen Bannerman, along with a vintage wooden puzzle. The group includes two hardcover copies edited by Watty Piper featuring pictorial boards. A large-format Golden Book edition published by Western Publishing Company is present, identified by the gb logo on the glossy pictorial boards. The lot contains a wooden inlay tray puzzle manufactured by SIFO, bearing the artist signature Arnott and the manufacturer mark in the lower right corner. A large softcover edition published by The Saalfield Publishing Co. of Akron, Ohio, is included, marked with number 1190. The collection also features The Little Black Sambo Magic Drawing Book (No. 037A) published by The Platt and Munk Co., Inc., with a 1928 copyright date. Smaller volumes include a Lippincott edition titled The Story of Little Black Sambo, labeled as the only authorized American edition, and a copy of Little Black Sambo and the Baby Elephant. Two Whitman Tell-A-Tale books are included, one with a green cover and one with a yellow cover featuring a 19c price mark. Miscellaneous ephemera consists of a small pamphlet-style book (No. 3100-B) and a set of loose pages illustrating the character Mumbo with pancakes. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
