A Collection of Vintage Stereoview Cards Including Keystone View Company Southern Industry Series - This collection of vintage stereoview cards dates from approximately 1897 to 1915. The group primarily features seven gray cardstock stereographs published by the Keystone View Company of Meadville, Pennsylvania, documenting industrial and agricultural labor in the Southern United States. Specific subjects in this series include harvesting pineapples in Florida, turpentine farming in Savannah, Georgia, harvesting peanuts in Marianna, Arkansas, picking cotton on a Mississippi plantation, cotton on the levee in New Orleans, hoeing rice in South Carolina, and phosphate mining in Columbia, Tennessee. These industrial cards include detailed educational text on the reverse side regarding the respective industries. The collection also contains a cream cardstock Keystone View Company card depicting President Theodore Roosevelt in Noblesville, Indiana, copyrighted 1902 by B.L. Singley. Additional items include a sepia-toned card by the American Stereoscopic Co. titled He comes Home early at 3 a.m. dated 1897, and three hand-colored genre cards depicting period racial caricatures with dialect titles. These titles include Mrs. Newlyweds New Wench Cook by Griffith and Griffith, Tell Me Dat You Lub me Darlin Dina, Dem Brats Done Gone and Stole dat Melon, and I Bet dis am a Good One. Each card measures approximately 7 inches by 3.5 inches. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
