A Trio of Vintage Black Americana Ephemera and Folk Art Objects - This lot consists of three pieces of vintage Black Americana including two hand-held fans and a handmade wall hanging. The first item is a die-cut cardboard hand fan with a wooden handle shaped like a young boy's head featuring a stylized caricature in red, black, and white. The reverse side contains a complete printed restaurant menu for the Piccaninny restaurant located at 3801 W. Madison St., Chicago, Illinois, with the telephone number Kedzie 3900. Menu sections include Chef's Specials, Barbecued Beef, Pork and Ham Specials, Barbecued Spare Ribs, and Piccaninny Redskins. The second item is a rectangular cardboard hand fan with rounded corners and a wooden handle featuring a printed illustration of a gospel choir in robes of red, orange, green, blue, and yellow against a dark background. The third item is a circular handmade folk art wall hanging constructed from a textured black material with hand-stitched edges. It features applied elements including a floral-patterned fabric headscarf, white paper circles for eyes, and a tan oval mouth area with a central string. Three brass-toned metal rings are attached to the perimeter for hanging. Menu fan: 13 x 9 inches. Choir fan: 11.5 x 8 inches. Wall hanging: 7.5 inches diameter.
