Two Pieces of Early 20th Century American Advertising Ephemera Wesson Oil and Cream of Wheat - This lot consists of two pieces of American promotional ephemera from the early 20th century. The first item is a 32-page staple-bound recipe booklet titled Let's Enjoy Eating, copyrighted in 1932 by the Wesson Oil and Snowdrift People. The booklet includes an introduction by Dr. Walter H. Eddy, Ph.D., Director of Bureau of Foods, Sanitation and Health for Good Housekeeping Magazine, with recipes credited to Mary B. Murray. The cover features a stylized caricature of a Black figure eating a slice of watermelon, a common advertising trope of the period. The interior contains recipes for dressings, frying, and baking. The second item is a branded pocket ledger issued by the Cream of Wheat Co. of Minneapolis, Minnesota. The dark brown leatherette cover features a circular inset depicting the Rastus chef trademark character and the printed text Don't Forget Cream of Wheat. The interior begins with several pages of printed company information and testimonials titled Posting. The remainder of the book contains extensive handwritten ledger entries in pencil, dated between June and July. These entries appear to record supplies and labor for electrical or mechanical work, including references to conductor, cable, and reel cranks.
