A Collection of Aunt Jemima and Black Americana Advertising Ephemera and Memorabilia - A collection of advertising ephemera and memorabilia primarily produced for the Aunt Jemima brand, a trademark of the Pearl Milling Company. The assortment consists of paper and tin items featuring lithographic and photographic printing. Included are two full-page color magazine advertisements. The first is titled The Famous Secret of my DELICIOUS Jiffy-Quick PANCAKES is right in these boxes and includes multiple recipes and product imagery. The second is titled What Aunt Jemima would never tell them...she got her matchless flavor with a blend of four flours and depicts a stylized plantation scene with a recipe for Asparagus Roll-Ups. Also included is a die-cut cardboard hand fan featuring a photographic reproduction of the Aunt Jemima character mounted on a shaped wooden handle. The collection contains two unused, flat paper product wrappers for Enriched White Hominy Grits and White Corn Meal, both featuring a 4 cent off price promotion and cooking directions on the reverse. A rectangular Sho-Am-Sweet Yams crate label is present, featuring a smiling chef and marks for the Pacific Fruit and Produce Co. and Gamble Robinson Co. of Los Angeles, California. Two modern postcard reproductions from the Past Cards series by Q2Ltd, New Orleans, depict vintage labels for Sum-Mo Brand and Sho Is Fine Brand syrups. Completing the collection is a lithographed tin tab pin for the Aunt Jemima Breakfast Club with the slogan Eat a Better Breakfast.
