A Collection of Vintage Sports Magazines and Ephemera Featuring Prominent Black Athletes - This collection consists of several vintage sports publications and printed ephemera primarily focused on prominent Black athletes. The group includes a LIFE magazine issue dated October 23, 1970, featuring Muhammad Ali; a Sports Illustrated issue dated June 18, 1973, featuring George Foreman; and a Sports Illustrated issue dated November 5, 1979, featuring Franco Harris. The lot also contains a Winter 2002 issue of American Legacy dedicated to Joe Louis, a May-June 2006 issue of Memories and Dreams focused on Negro League baseball, and a July-August 2016 edition of the FORsooth newsletter honoring Muhammad Ali. Additionally, the collection includes a biographical book titled Sheryl Swoopes by Liza N. Burby and a 1978 Calendar of Great Black American Athletes presented by the Jos. Schlitz Brewing Co., featuring illustrated portraits of figures such as Jack Johnson, Josh Gibson, and Isaac Murphy. Calendar: 18 inches wide.
