A Collection of Vintage Alphabet of Black Americans and Famous Black Arkansan Educational Posters - This collection consists of vintage classroom educational posters produced by Tandem Press, Inc. of Tannersville, Pennsylvania. The set includes two distinct series printed on heavy cream cardstock with portrait illustrations rendered in sepia-toned or dark brown ink. The Alphabet of Black Americans series features a letter of the alphabet paired with a notable figure, including Louis Armstrong (Aa), Benjamin Banneker (Bb), George Washington Carver (Cc), Frederick Douglass (Dd), Bessie Smith (Ss), and Harriet Tubman (Tt). The reverse of each alphabet card contains a Children's Story biography, review questions, suggested classroom activities, and a list of other notable individuals in related fields. The Famous Black Arkansan series includes biographical sketches and portraits of figures such as Maya Angelou, Mifflin Wester Gibbs, Dr. J.C. Oliver, and Honorable Judge Scipio A. Jones. Portrait illustrations are attributed to Joseph Banks and Morris Gustman. The reverse of the cards includes the publisher's mark, a copyright date of February 1974, and Library of Congress Card number 74-77593. Each card measures approximately 11 x 14 inches. Pickup is Wednesday, April 22 from 10 am to 3 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
