An Antique Alphabet and Number Needlework Sampler in a Wooden Frame - A needlework sampler featuring alphabet and numerical motifs. The piece is executed in blue cross-stitch on a coarse, natural-toned open-weave linen ground. The composition includes various pairs of uppercase and lowercase letters such as AA, EE, XX, PP, TT, cd, kl, and st, alongside numbers including 23, 10, 55, 2, and 4. Horizontal bands of fainter, tone-on-tone stitched alphabets are visible across the textile. A decorative row of blue and tan chevron patterns is featured at the lower left.
